Divination can take on many forms and really is just an open line for spirit to send specific guidance when asked directly. My favorite method of divination is oracle cards. Whether you're looking for one card to give you guidance, or a down and dirty sorting through every aspect of a situation, there's a reading for that. A spread is a particularly intentioned way of drawing cards in a specific arrangement to get specific information. The right spread can help you align and engage with the energy of a particular season, work through a specific obstacle, or answer an important question.
